What We Do

Our flagship creation is Maha Festival: Two action-packed days at Aksarben Village in the center of the city, complete with two stages of world-class music, local food and craft beverages, and attractions galore. Beyond the music, you’ll find performances from comedians, poets, visual artists, and more — even skateboarders.

Maha shares the stage with other Omaha nonprofits by spotlighting what they’re all about at the Community Village. And, thanks to lots of teamwork, Maha became one of the largest events in the state to earn Zero Waste certification in 2022.

Why We Do It

Maha exists to highlight the city of Omaha and its amazing creative community. This ultimate celebration of summertime and togetherness helps put our city on the map, especially among those seeking a variety of cultural attractions, and a fulfilling place to live and work.

Everyone leaves the festival having discovered something new about Omaha. Whether it’s local musicians, companies you didn’t know were located here, or amazing local food and beer, you’ll have a new favorite by the end of the weekend.

Looking ahead, Maha will continue to grow and expand into a multi-day, multifaceted experience that mobilizes our community and embraces the very best our city has to offer.

How We’re Doing

With typical attendance at 10,000-15,000 and growing, Maha draws fans from near and far for an experience that’s uniquely memorable.

In 2022:

25% of attendees traveled from outside of Omaha. 15% stayed in a hotel or Airbnb.

68% who traveled from out of town agreed that their experience going to Maha Festival changed their overall impression of Omaha for the better.

77% of all surveyed said Maha Festival was one of their favorite events of the entire year.

82% of Omahans surveyed agreed that events like Maha Festival help make them feel good about living in Omaha.

More than 850 volunteers came together to make the festival come to life. 97% said they would do it again in 2023, and 96% said they’d recommend volunteering at Maha to a friend.
