DKMS is the world’s largest international donor center to recruit potentially life saving donors to the National Bone Marrow Registry. Their mission is to provide hope and inspiration to families facing bone marrow failure diseases with hope for finding a matching non related donor to save lives. DKMS recruits donors to provide life saving stem cells and/or bone marrow donation to patients in need.
At Maha’s Community Village, the DKMS volunteer team will be showcasing the need for the donor registrations to save the lives of patients needing a stem cell or bone marrow donation to eradicate their disease. There are 47 known bone marrow failure diseases to include Leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, sickle cell anemia, aplastic anemia. Becoming a registered donor takes no longer then 10 minutes and consists of reviewing medical eligibility, completing a contact information form, and swabbing your cheek.
