Nebraska Writers Collective Youth Poets

Experience creative spoken word performances at Maha Festival.

A longstanding Maha Festival tradition is returning to the stage: the Nebraska Writers Collective Youth Poets will bring multiple standout performers to the festival.

The organization’s mission — to foster community-building in the Midwest through creative writing and performance poetry — will shine in two different places at the festival on Saturday, July 30.

On the Union Pacific Stage

Saturday, July 30 at 2 p.m., 2:50 p.m., and 4:35 p.m. 
Tanya Bachu, Nebraska Youth Poet Laureate
Isabella Mitchell, Nebraska Youth Poet Laureate Runner-Up
Delaney Kigerl, a representative from Skutt Catholic High School, the NWC Youth Poetry Finals Winners

Inside the Millwork Arts Lounge

Saturday, July 30 from 5 to 6 p.m.
Student performers from the following schools, along with the award-winning author and poet Michael Kleber-Diggs:

  • Lincoln Northeast
  • Bellevue West
  • Westside High School
  • Lincoln High School
  • Lincoln Southwest High School
  • Creighton Prep
  • Millard South High School
  • Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln High School
