Top Moments of #Maha10

For year ten, Maha went BIGGER. It was the first time expanding the music festival into not just one, but two days of fun.

March 28, 2019

Plus, the famed Big Omaha conference officially joined forces with Maha, and we celebrated the 10th annual events together in style. With so many special moments over three days, let’s dive into a few faves — while getting ready for another magical time at #Maha11 this August!

1. Who run the world? Girls.

Half of our speakers at Big Omaha were business women sharing insight into their niches. This is Lili Cheng, Vice President of Microsoft’s AI Developer Services.

2. Work hard, play hard.

Just like the dedicated volunteers who ventured around with backpacks filled with Boulevard Wheat goodness!

3. Love to love.

At Maha it’s all about being good to one another and having an enjoyable experience. Let’s keep the love and support at #Maha11!

4. Big fun at Big Omaha.

Who doesn’t love a photo booth with Maude the cow mascot? Thanks to Goodlight Photobooth for capturing all the best angles — or rather, the best dance moves.

5. Chicago-born prodigy, Ravyn Lenae.

Rising R&B singer-songwriter Ravyn Lenae killed it on the Maha stage! It’s OK if you’re still listening to “Free Room” and “Sticky” on repeat. (Or if you’re not yet, listen here.)

6. The Godmother of VR.

Nonny de la Peña is known for inventing immersive journalism and premiering the first-ever VR experience at Sundance Film Festival. Her talk at Big Omaha was nothing short of unforgettable.

7. Reuse, reduce, and recycle.

Sustainability is essential at Maha. The music festival helps make recycling easy with numerous bins around the park, and the conference was a zero-waste event in 2018 (thanks to sponsor, HDR, and partner on that effort, Hillside Solutions).

8. You better work.

Friends who take pictures of each other by cute water bottles together, stay together. These are an annual tradition devoted to reducing the use of plastic. Shoutout to Bergman Incentives for keeping our sustainable consistency alive — and hot pink.

9. Backstage antics.

It’s not an everyday thing when Chlamydia comes out to give a talk about safer sex, but we’re definitely here for it. Get Checked Omaha is a real one with providing free birth control, STD testing, and condoms to the community.

10. Food for days.

Major props to MJER Help, Farine + Four, and Dandelion who fueled our Big Omaha friends for the day.

11. Big mood at Maha.

If this isn’t the best picture to describe spending the weekend with good people at #Maha10 while cruising on the #WernerWheel, then we don’t know what is.

12. To new beginnings.

The 10th and final Big Omaha ended with a massive group toast and traditional bagpipes to send conference-goers off remembering all the great times, connections, and inspiration over the last decade. (Don’t fret — the spirit of Big Omaha will live on at Maha’s 2019 conference, and beyond.)

13. March to the beat of their own drum.

Omaha Street Percussion brought this high-energy art to the people of Maha. Their main goal is to promote education, mentorship, and performance in a tangible way.

14. Weezer takes the stage.

Weezer took on the Decade Stage as headliner at the last night of #Maha10, a set full of surprises and cheers.

15. Slices on slices on slices.

Exclusive eats from the Dante VIP Area! Enough said.

16. Entering a new world through VR.

A warm thank you to AIM Institute for providing Big Omahans some playtime with Google Tilt Brush and “riding” a rollercoaster.

17. All for one and one for all.

Free, consensual #MaHugs and high 5’s!

18. Reality at KANEKO.

Maha kicked off the weekend’s events with an opening party at KANEKO, where attendees mingled among the interactive exhibit “Reality.”

19. Maha volunteers rock!

This unforgettable experience brought 700 volunteers and 15,000 festival- and conference-goers together for three days of fun — the biggest Maha yet.

20. Get hyped!

The 11th annual Maha is right on the horizon. See you August 14-17, 2019 at #Maha11, presented by Buildertrend!
